Reed's room is finally, finally ready! We've been working on it for months - first with painting and getting the furniture set, and then on to the details of decorating and finishing all of the personal touches.
It all started at the end of last year, after we found out that LBMH was a little boy. Mom and I found the cutest woodland creatures fabric at Joann's, along with a teal houndstooth, tan linen and brown minky. Mom did an AMAZING job with taking my vision and turning it into reality.
She really outdid herself! Not only did she make his crib skirt and bumper, but also curtains, tie-backs, a pillow and a quilt. I love that his Grandma put so much love into his room. He will definitely know that Grandma would do anything for him.
This is the right side of the room. The rocking horse was made by my great-uncle for my mom's oldest brother. Erik refinished it as a surprise for my Grandma in December.
A close up of the bedding. You can't see the pattern too well, but it has moose, owls, trees, bikes and lots of other "outdoorsy" accents. I love it because it's "boy and "baby" but not too soft. The colors also don't show up as vibrant in the photos as they are in person. The blue in the bedding and the walls is brighter than it looks here.
Reed's reading nook, complete with his first wall mounts. I just love this corner!
Changing table and dresser. This is straight ahead as you stand at his door.
Left side of the room.
Probably my favorite part of the room - his glider! It is so comfortable, and I could seriously sleep in this chair. (Which is a good thing, since I probably will...)
Reed's custom pillow and quilt, made with love by Grandma.
Armoire with some of his letter blocks and personalized gifts from family.
And finally, his closet. Since the closet doesn't have any doors, we had to get creative with curtains and tie backs. We also had to get creative with organizing the closet. It had to look neat and tidy or else it would drive me absolutely crazy. With the help of lots of baskets and matching hangers, I think we accomplished the look we wanted.
I LOVE the final product and think Reed will feel comfortable playing and growing into his room. I can't wait for him to get here and make himself at home!
