Introducing...

Reed Lewis Hill

Dear Reed,

Today was the best day since Daddy and I found out that you would be joining our family. There was a lot of anticipation leading up to the sonogram where we found out if you were a baby boy or a baby girl.

The night before our appointment, Momma and Daddy stayed up late talking about what it would be like to have a girl baby or a boy baby. Momma was convinced that you were a girl, although I'd be suspecting you were a boy for about a week. Daddy, though, stayed firm to the fact you were a boy from the very beginning.

We went to our appointment the next afternoon. Daddy met Momma at the doctor's office, and we went in for the sonogram. For about 30 minutes, just Daddy and the technician could see you. You were such a squirmy baby!

Profile shot

You kept doing summersaults and flipping around, making it hard for them to get a good shot of your whole body. You did settle down, though, and seemed to like to show the camera your hiney and legs a lot. You definitely are your father's son...

At one point, when the technician was looking at your heart, the measurement that shows your blood flowing in and out turned bright red (just showing that your heart was pumping the blood through well). Your Daddy blurted out, "It's a Republican!" Oh, goodness. Reed, you can make your mind up on that one later.

High five!

Then, the technician finally turned the screen around and let Momma get a good look. She showed us all of your organs, limbs and features. What a miracle you are! It's amazing to me how God has formed you so intricately, even from just a few weeks of life. After pointing out everything else, she went back and showed us that you are, in fact, definitely a boy. All boy.

It's a boy!

Our boy. What an incredible feeling to see our son and know that you are all ours. It's the coolest feeling ever.

We left the doctor's office, and Daddy insisted that we go to Academy to buy you your first camo. I think he wanted to buy you everything in the store that day. He showed some self-control, though, and bought you a Browning baby set - complete with a onesie, bib, burp cloth and hat. And, don't worry, it's legit because Daddy has a Browning rifle. No posers here.

We followed our shopping with some frozen yogurt and sat talking about you - what you would look like, what sports you might play, your little personality. We can't wait to get to know you!

Thanksgiving is later this week, so we're going to wait to tell our families about you until tomorrow at a gender reveal party at your Grandma and Grandpa's house. Until then, just the three of us (and Tex) know. Oh, and wonder how excited your puppy was to find out he would have a baby brother? Check out the video of Daddy telling him.

We love you so much, Reed, and we are counting the days until we meet you in person.

Love,
Momma & Daddy
