Like father, like daughter

After five years at Texas Farm Bureau, I was offered an opportunity I couldn't pass up. As of Sept. 23, I've joined Lewis Public Relations as director of strategic development.

I was bit by the PR bug pretty early on. I knew from my senior year of high school that this was the career I wanted to pursue. I liked writing, and I loved the challenge of solving problems and speaking on behalf of people and companies. It just so happened my dad was in the same business.

Through college and as I started interviewing for my first full-time job, I was set on walking my own path. I thought maybe one day I might join the family business, but I wanted to have my own experiences, to earn respect as a professional.

Seven years, three jobs, two cities, a husband and baby later - life has brought me back to LPR. (True story: I was employee #1, hired for my incredible filing and time entry skills. I also quit and/or cried every other day.)

I feel lucky to work with a group of world-class professionals. I am grateful that they treat me like any other employee. Most of all, I feel honored to collaborate daily with one of my favorite people in the world. Dad is well respected, knowledgeable and pretty dang impressive. I just hope to soak up a sliver of his greatness.

Here's to great things for Lewis Public Relations!
