Reed is 5 months!

Stats: The upside to Reed's brush with pink eye was another weigh in. As of Sept. 17, Reed weighed 15 pounds, 13 ounces. He's probably 27 inches or so. There's little doubt he'll be tall!

Milestones: This past month, Reed has become much stronger. He's holding his head well and for much longer. Tummy time isn't as frustrating for him, and he's sitting with some help. He rolled over for the first time (tummy to back) while playing at the lake house over Labor Day weekend. We are loving this new stage as he starts to discover the world around him.

Behavior: I think I say the same thing every month, but Reed really is such a good, laid-back baby. He rarely fusses and is happy to go along on errands to Target, the grocery store, Home Depot, a Baylor game - wherever.

Sleep: This boy loves his sleep! He wakes up around 7 a.m. for his first bottle, but goes back to sleep around 7:45 before school. He takes a few more naps during the day and usually will take a power nap on the way home at 5:30 p.m. He'll wake up for a bottle around 6 p.m. and sleep until we wake him for a final bottle around 10 or 11 p.m. Then he sleeps through the night until his first bottle the next morning. He almost never wakes up in the middle of the night, unless he skipped his last feeding. Like I said, he's a champion sleeper.

Clothes: He's still in 3-6 month clothes, although anything with long pants are getting pretty short. He's wearing some 9 month pajamas for the length only. Diapers are still size 2. Since they go up to 18 pounds, he'll probably be in them for a while longer.

Food: We haven't started solids yet, so he's still just getting formula at school and breast milk at home and on the weekends. He's taking 5-6 feedings a day at about 6 ounces each.

Likes: Tummy time, toys (especially his O ball and plastic keys), his monkey bouncer, Daddy's made-up songs, books, eating and sleeping.

Dislikes: Cold milk/formula, cold baths and being dirty. Really, there's not much that he dislikes right now.

Favorite Moments: Reed's first Baylor game! It was SO hot, and we didn't stay for the whole game, but he really seemed to like it. The sounds, colors, people - there was a lot to take in! I took him to the last part of tailgate and wore him in the Bjorn during the game.

It's exciting to think we were able to experience his very first Baylor event with him. I understand why kids grow up "brainwashed" to bleed green and gold. He has Baylor gear in every size, so he's set for football season and well into basketball. His daddy even taught him to sic 'em at kickoff...

But, don't let these cute ones fool you... He did have a meltdown before our only family pic at the game...

Most Challenging: Our most challenging moment was probably Reed's first real sickness. It was already a busy week, but a sick baby stops everything. He was still his happy, calm self, but I hated to see him under the weather.

Looking Forward To: More time with our munchkin. The hardest thing about balancing work and being a mom is getting enough time with our little man. Since he loves sleeping so much, there are just a few precious times during the day when we have time to interact. Don't get me wrong, I love that he sleeps so well, but I also really cherish the time we have to play, read books together, pray and hang out. I sure do love this little boy.

And, of course, a picture with his puppy...
