Well, we made it nearly five months without a major sickness, but it finally happened - and at a pretty inopportune time. (Welcome to parenthood, right?)
On Monday, when I went to pick Reed up from school, his teacher stopped me and said she was worried Reed had pink eye. His eyes had been goopey and crusty. He didn't act like he didn't feel well, but his eyes were definitely watery and infected. So, I thanked her for letting me know and promised we would take him to the pediatrician in the morning.
The timing wasn't ideal - my last day at TFB was Wednesday and I had a big PRSA event on Thursday - but my sweet baby was sick. You do what you gotta do...
To add to the chaos, I noticed my eyes getting infected later that night. Yep, I got pink eye, too. Again, not the best timing since you can't go to work/school for 24 hours after getting drops.
We both went to the doctor in the morning, got drops and spent the day working from home. By Wednesday, we were on the mend and ready to get back to our busy week. Reed was in good spirits, and we had survived our first sickness.
No matter how busy the week, it all stops when he feels sick or when something goes wrong. I'm grateful for a husband who can take on pediatrician appointments when Momma's down for the count, the flexibility to work from the house when needed and a laid-back baby who takes things in stride.
(In an effort to maintain peaceful relations with my future teenage son, no photos were included in this post. They do exist. They do contain a good bit of snot. They are gross. Trust me, you're better off without them.)
