10 week update

Along: 10 weeks

Size of baby: LBMH is about the size of a prune, about two inches long. He or she is starting to look more like a baby than an alien – complete with fingers and toes and a tiny nose, ears and mouth.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: So far, I haven’t really gained any weight. I may be up 1-2 pounds altogether.

Maternity Clothes: My “normal” clothes definitely are fitting tighter, but I haven’t switched to maternity clothes just yet. I did stop to get a few items at the outlets on the way back from a business trip this week, including a pair of leggings and a few tops.

Gender: ???

Movement: None yet!

What I miss: I miss some of the foods on the “do not eat” list like deli meat, an occasional Diet Coke, coffee and wine. I also miss feeling like myself. For the past several weeks, I’ve either been very tired or very sick. This week has been better, though, so I’m hoping we’re on the downward slope of those symptoms.

Cravings: cheese, grilled cheese sandwiches, fruit and WATER (lots and lots of water)

Symptoms: nausea and shrinking pants

Best moment of the week: I’m not sure that this is the “best” moment of the week, but it certainly was a memorable one. On Friday of this week, Erik asked if I had seen an important check that he left for me on the kitchen table. We quickly realized that I had looked at the check the day before and decided it looked like junk mail. (In my defense, it was a flimsy check and the print was a bit cartoonish…) Instead of setting it aside, or cashing the check, I chose to shred the piece of “junk mail.” I was pretty upset at first, but pretty soon after we decided to chalk it up to pregnancy brain and call on Monday to get another check issued. It will be fine, but I was pretty embarrassed and frustrated with my normally type-A, organized self.

Looking forward to: our baby going public! It has been hard to go about our day without talking to friends, coworkers and others about our baby. We are very excited to start planning and preparing!
