13 week update

Along: 13 weeks

Size of baby: LBMH is the size of a lemon - 3 inches long and 1.5 ounces. This week, the baby is growing hair and eyebrows.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: About 3 pounds.

Maternity Clothes: Still mostly in regular clothes but with the belly band. I did wear a maternity dress this week, and it felt like pajamas. As long as it didn't look like pajamas, that's pretty awesome.

Gender: ???

Movement: None yet!

What I miss: feeling normal. I feel like I've been complaining lately, but pregnancy has not exactly been easy. Nausea, tired all the time and no meds for allergies have taken a toll. Hopefully the second trimester will bring fewer symptoms.

Cravings: WATER (lots and lots of water - still). We also had an incident this week where I was set on Chickfila nuggets and waffle fries. My order was lost in translation, and we ended up without fries. It was a momentary crisis.

Symptoms: Still some nausea and am tired during the day. I'm hoping the second trimester brings fewer symptoms.

Best moment of the week: Hearing our baby's heartbeat! While we didn't have an ultrasound this week, we did get to hear the baby's heartbeat by Doppler. It took Dr. Patterson a while to find it, but eventually we heard a really fast, tiny heartbeat. It was the sweetest sound, even if it only lasted for a few second. (I ended up laughing, we lost the heartbeat and then couldn't find it again. That's not uncommon though, since I'm still pretty early in the pregnancy and LBMH is still pretty far back there.)

Side note: Erik said after our appointment that the baby's heartbeat sounded like techno music from The Cheat's rave party. Sort of ridiculous, but really funny.

Looking forward to: finding out our baby's gender! We finally have a date on the calendar, and we are so excited to find out if we're having a baby boy or a baby girl.
